About

Come one, come all!

Catapulting off the success of last year’s event, St. Edmund’s College is pleased to invite you to our May Ball 2019, which promises to be a truly memorable event.

Guests will experience a diverse and abundant selection of food from some of Cambridge’s finest gastronomical institutions; cocktails, wine, beer and other non-alcoholic festive beverages will flow from start to finish; and a curated programme of entertainment, including live music, attractions and interactive activities, will allow for a wide variety of tastes to be satisfied for the whole evening.

The Ball will take place on the evening of Friday, June 21st 2019, with entrance to the festivities beginning at 8pm on the college grounds, and lasting until the early hours of the morning. All members of the community, students, staff, fellows, and administrators are invited to join us in celebrating the end of a successful academic year.

Our theme for this year’s ball is a play on words, both an allusion to the popular Ed Sheeran song and also a reference to St. Edmund's as one of the 'hill colleges' up on the north side of the River Cam.

Workers

Integral to the success of any May Ball is the team of dedicated workers alongside the committee that makes the event happen. Join our team and be the part of the organizing and execution of St Edmund's May Ball 2019.

Click on the link to the application form below to apply, and please email info@stedmundsmayball.co.uk with any and all questions or concerns.

Applications go live: Tuesday, February 12th 2019

We are recruiting for the below roles:

General

General workers are assigned to a variety of jobs during the Ball, however we anticipate this to be mostly dealing with security, cleaning bins and table areas, and with the Coat Check. This role requires you to be flexible and adaptable during the shift, and workers are expected to take initiative in their roles to contact supervisors or fix issues that they come across.

Food/Drink

Food & Drink workers will be responsible to ensure that stock levels of ingredients and drinks remain topped up throughout the Ball. They might also be involved in working with specific vendors or caterers, serving guests, and roaming in the food and drink areas.

Entertainment

Entertainment (Ents) workers will be responsible for the running of all musical and non-musical entertainment at the Ball. This role involves looking after acts for one the stages, or being an attendant at a stationary Ents section. You will be on a team headed by the Ents Officer to make sure the timetable and schedule are kept on time.

Fire Steward

Fire Stewards are responsible for ensuring that all health and safety regulations are adhered to throughout the event. This role includes crowd control, checking wristbands, supporting the security team, and coordinating evacuations if necessary. Relevant experience is helpful but not required, and full training will be given.

Applications DEADLINE **EXTENDED**: Monday, April 15th, 2019
